My 1986 GMC Caballero (same as an El Camino)
AUTO-X Photos
Section #1 First practice auto-x during the summer. Basically stock and in bad shape at that. Broken rear spring, bad shocks, bad suspension bushings, under powered, granny steering box ratio, 205/75/r14 tires, bench seat, etc.
Auto crossing the Caballero - fun yes, fast no. (more body roll than a 500lb woman on a water bed)
Section #2 Decided to make the Caballero into my fun car.
New poly. bushings, Hotchkiss springs, bilstein shocks, home-made boxed control arms, Grand National 8.5in 3.42 posi rear, F41 sway bars, higher ratio steering box, seats out of 4th gen trans am, floor shifter, th350 auto that has had a shift kit, headers and homemade dual 2 1/2 exhaust with 3 chamber flow masters, and better tires and wheels. Some 225/50/R15's for auto-x and some 275/60/15's Nitto's for drag racing.
It now sounds mean and handles pretty good! Very fun to drive, could use more horse power.
(*Derrick is driving when the cones were being hit)
